Eye Lid Aesthetic

The eye contact is very important in human relations. Regardless of how energetic you feel, the tiring looks will effect your relations.

The eyelid aesthetic operation is the removal of the excessive skin or lipid bags on your lower-upper eyelids which make you seem older, tired than you are and (which) even obstruct your sight. Genetic factors and harsh business life are the main factors generating these results.

This problem is corrected and the view of the face becomes significantly, and even totally, more energetic, effective, young, beautiful and dynamic.

The eyelid aesthetics may be performed on its own but also together with some other face operations such as face lifting or eyebrow lifting. In upper eyelid aesthetic operation of some persons, due to the anatomic characteristics of the person, happy lifting is a must for eyebrow lifting to prevent the hanging down of the eyebrow hanging down. For Asian eye types, upper lid line formation is easily accomplishable under simple methods.

Before the operation: Since there are different operation techniques, the anatomic requirements and complaints of the person should be well identified during the examination.

Anesthesia: The eyelid operations are generally performed under sedation and local anesthesia. This type of anesthesia affects the area surrounding the eye. Sedating agents are also applied from the mouth or vein. You will be semi-awake during the operation however feels no pain as in a sedated condition.

Operation: Three different methods may be applied for the eyelid operations:

1. The incision for the upper eyelid operation is performed from the skin folding line on the lid, where just below the eyelash in the lower lid operations (both to hide the incision scar). The lipids that form the bags are extracted / taken from these incisions and the hangings down excess skins are removed. A very thin stitch is performed. If necessary, eyebrow lifting operation is also carried out.

2. For the persons who have lesser bags in the lower eyelid, the operation is performed through(within) the eyelid. This is called transconjuntive blepharoplasty. This technique provides the removal of the lipid tissues without leaving any scar.

3. Some persons may have very thin lines on the skin and CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser may be used for these cases. Radio-frequency application is possible thanks to the latest developments and this method permits the correction of newly starting loosening of the eyelids without any surgical operation.

The operation is generally performed in a period lasting 1-2 hours. The period depends to the size of the operation. The small bands placed n lower and upper eyelids, which do not close the eyes, are removed after the operation.

Post operation: The first 24-48 hours requires well protection of eyes. There will be swollen areas, redness and light sensitivity in the eyelids. These last a couple of days. The stitches (sutures) will be removed in 4-7 days. The incision scar is in the natural curve of the eye and, thus, very indefinite. The operation scar becomes even indefinite in months. Moist compresses may be applied on the eyelids.

It is recommended to keep your head in high position for a couple days and apply cold compresses for to lessen swollen areas. You may start reading and watching TV after two days from the operation. However you may not use your contact lenses for 2 weeks. Many patients go out in 2-4 days from the operation and feel themselves ready to work in 5-7 days.

We recommend you to use sunglasses in initial periods of going out.
