Laser Epilation I need to talk about the epilation which is a big problem of women and of some men. It was in the older times an endless problem; and the temporary solutions for the hair lessening was a very time consuming and painfull process. This will help you to select your device.

IPL(Flash Lamp Teechnology -550nm or 1200nm Wave Length):

Devices of Application: Epiliht, Photoderm, Quantum, Aculıght, Vasculıght.

* All the aforementioned devices have different features.
* Epilight is designed especially for the destruction of the hair.
* Photoderm is used to remove and treat the face redness (rosacea) and the thin red veins on the face and legs.
* Epilight is the version of Photoderm developed as concentrating on hair.

Diode laser (800nm or 810nm wave length):

Devices of Application: LIGHT SHEER, Slp 1000, F1 Dıode, Mediostar, Laserlite, Epistar, Apex 800.

Diode laser is a good technology because it uses a wide wave length. The most advanced diode is the LIGHT SHEER DIODE LASER technology. It has a great success on all the body and especially on the face where the other laser devices may not demonstrate good performance.

It makes lesser damage than the other devices. It may also be used for the dark skins easily and safely. Provided the general rules are observed, it gives problem free results for every skin, every hair and every color. Light Sheer ET Diode Laser has a FDA approval for affecting all the skin types (contrary to the former models) and for performing permanent epilation. It is a fast and effective device without any complication. It has proved its superiority against the former generation laser devices that you may see frequently for being used.

ND YAG(1064nm wave length):

Devices of Application: Coolglide, Medlite IV, Varia, Athos, Lyra, Image. It may be applied to all skin colors. The studies continue to prove that the results for the face epilation performance of the device are good.

RUBY (694nm wave length):

Devices of Application: Rubtstar, Palomar E2000. It is the oldest laser type. It gives however the least pain. It may nay not be recommended to the dark colored persons.

ALEXANDRITE (755nm wave length):

Devices of Application: Gentlelase, Apogee, Epitouch plus. It is a frequent laser type used in Turkey; it is an old technology when compared. It may be easily applied to the light skin colors however, same as Ruby, may not be recommended to the dark skin colors.

The main principle for destroying the undesired hair with laser is the interaction of the melanin pigment (present in the hair and root of the hair as to give the color) and laser light. The melanin absorbs the falling light. The absorbed light turns to energy and heat and accordingly destroys the hair. The laser epilation used the selective photothermolysis method in which laser light is sent in the extent as to destroy the melanin including hair however not damaging the surrounding tissues. The hair starts to peel in a week. A follicular edema starts in the roots of the hair but lasts 30 minutes.

Frequent questions related to laser epilation question:

Are the laser lights/rays harmful to the skin or other organs? Do they have cancerogen effects? The laser lights are being used since 1960s for medicine and especially for dermatology and they are very safe with no side effects in the long run. The do not cause cancer and they have no effects on lymphs, lipid glands, milk glands and genital organs.

Who may have laser treatment? It may be applied to any person save the pregnant, tanned persons (under sunlight or solarium), persons with hormonal disorder and persons having cortisone treatment. It may be applied to respective persons after the completion of hormone or cortisone treatment. 15 days after the sun tanning or solarium shall pass for the application to be performed.

How many sessions will I need? The hormone situation of the person, age, and skin type, color of the hair, intensity of the hair and area of application determines the number of session. But, in average, 3-7 sessions give the permanent results.

How long are the sessions and what are the intervals between the sessions? Laser epilation is definitely effective; besides, its biggest superiority against the traditional methods (shaving, epilation wax, electrolysis [needle epilation]) is its short session and long session intervals. The over lip and chin area are 10 minutes; the bikini and genital area is 30 minutes; arms are 45 minutes; legs are 1 hour. The intervals between the sessions, depending on the area, are 1-2 months.

Does pain come out in application? Do we need special care before and after the operation? Special “Dynamic Cooling Device” makes the applications painless. No special care is needed. Only in the summer months, high protection factor (SPF) having sun lotions and moisturizers are recommended.

How should be the hair when starting to treatment? The first application shall start when all of the hair is at least 1 mm on the surface (skin). If the hair is too long, then the shortening operation should be made by the applying specialist for to direct all the energy to the roots.

Must we be hairy between the sessions? Since session will be repeated at once when new hair comes, no long hair must be endured.

How will be the skin after the application? A slight redness and swollen situation, as not to prevent the daily life of the person, may be present; but this conditions lasts so short. The hair, which seem as to re-sprout after 7-14 days, are dead and they will peel off when rubbed softly.

Is the color of the skin important? Light sheer is different from the other lasers thanks to its high wave length and compact active cooler; it may be applied safely and successfully to all skin colors including sun burnt skins.
